Staycation

by: Mizpah Mijares

Recession has brought up this new slang for everyone.

Staycation is a newly coined word that may be in the process of entering common use, meaning, an individual or family stays at home instead of going out of town or flying out of the country for vacation.

Today, relating to the ubiquitous cases of plant shutdowns and shortened work-week, you may be wondering where all the workers could be spending the days-off.

Few of them could be lucky to have their travel agents in speed dial, with their bank accounts winking for the getaway's approval.

How about you? Are you part of the majority, left without a choice by the situation to rather enjoy your staycation? ( Giggles ). Bet you are not alone, dear.

There's plenty of things you could actually beat the boredom. You may refer to the Article, Make Money and Beat Boredom

Another highly recommended task is to become an ambassador of the following worthwhile activities:

  1. Earth Hour Movement - it doesn't take a Superman and cracking up the Big Bang Theory to save the world ; just log on to the WWF website to find out that it only takes you and your small gesture to make a difference
  2. Couchsurfing - this is a hospitality club with its core activity is exchange of accommodation, or " surfing ". For more info about couchsurfing, just google couchsurfing and learn about this kind of non-profit activity existing since 2004.
Staycation, in a very simple description, is catching up with Life.
